Job description
The IT Applications Analyst Job Family encompasses job responsibilities and accountability for various IT applications and includes the analysis, development, system administration, and support functions necessary to ensure a stable and reliable application environment for the Columbia Pipeline Group.

The IT Applications Job Family has 3 levels: Analyst, Senior Analyst and Lead Analyst. The qualifications and experience for each step in this job family are defined in the Responsibilities and Selection Criteria sections below.

Essential Responsibilities:

The IT Application Analyst job family is responsible and accountable for:
Performing application system production support, maintenance and development under the direction of the Team Lead and/or their designee.
Performing System Administration and Change Management functions in accordance with defined procedures.
Stable and reliable 24/7/365 operation of application services that meet business desired Service Levels.

The IT Application Analyst will be expected to:
                                                                           
Be proficient with MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Access.
Be proficient with one or more of the common software development tools and methods such as J2EE, C++, C#, Visual Basic, the .NET environment, XML, etc.
Have knowledge of MS Windows, MS SQL Server, MS Windows Server, MS Visio and MS Project.
Have an understanding of relational database design concepts (table structure; one-to-many relationships) and how to query data using Structured Query Language (SQL)
Have an understanding ofthe fundamentals of project management and the software development lifecycle.

In addition to the expectations for the Analyst level, the Senior Analyst level will be expected to:

Be proficient with MS Windows, MS SQL Server, MS Windows Server, MS Visio and MS Project.
Be proficient in their understanding of relational database design concepts (table structure; one-to-many relationships) and how to query data using Structured Query Language (SQL)
Understand and utilize project management in the implementation of any projects of significance.
Provide technical oversight of the applications they support with moderate to limited management direction.
Develop system application deliverables such as screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, reports, system interfaces, test scripts, and training documents with moderate to limited management direction.
Assist outside vendors/suppliers of software or services with the resolution of any issues impacting the applications they support.
Develop and maintain system documentation including process maps, data flows, infrastructure diagrams, as well as installation and configuration procedures.

In addition to the expectations for the Senior Analyst level, the Lead Analyst level will be expected to:

Lead various sized projects and be responsible for the planning, task and resource management, budget, and deployment.
Be accountable for the strategic direction of all applications in their area of responsibility with limited management direction.  This includes maintaining the application, operating system, and database management systems at current release levels.

Selection Criteria:

Systems Analyst Level:

In addition to the items under the Essential Responsibilities for this position:

Four-year Degree in Computer Science, Engineering related area, OR equivalent experience.
General understanding or specific knowledge of any IT application associated with the Natural Gas Industry is a plus.

Senior Systems Analyst Level (In addition to the requirements for Systems Analyst level):
Have a minimum of five (5) years experience in a development environment.

Lead Systems Analyst Level (In addition to the requirements for Senior Systems Analyst level):
Have a minimum of ten (10) years experience in a development environment.
Communication and interpersonal skills including ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature is key.
Broad knowledge base of IT industry disciplines and approaches is key
Candidate should:

Be willing to travel to business unit locations, as needed
