BROADCAST INTERNSHIPS
Primary responsibilities include research,
fact-checking, transcribing footage, assisting on shoots, contributing story
and show ideas, attending planning and creative meetings and sourcing images
and footage.
Candidates should be detail-orientated, have strong
writing and research skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced
environment, and have the confidence to pitch story ideas and potential guests
to show producers.
The Newsdesk
The Newsdesk is the fuel that fires the furnaces of
News telling at CNN.
The intern role demands the ability to multitask and
create high-quality content for both digital and broadcast. As well as
coordinating our team of live reporters around the world, we work to fact check
and verify breaking news to alert across all CNN platforms. The ability to
discover current breaking news stories, write succinctly and accurately, and
deliver to deadline is key. Daily tasks include monitoring press conferences
and live events, reaching out to press offices for statements and sourcing
video/ images. The Newsdesk also makes sure production teams and reporters know
about their upcoming live appearances and liaises with the show producers to
ensure these run smoothly. The ideal candidate will possess a fine attention to
detail and should be confident to work in a fast-paced, high energy environment
- and they should prepare to hit the ground running.

Features
The CNNi Productions team produces features content
across TV, digital and social platforms. Interns will help with researching and
planning stories, as well as writing scripts and articles, and creating social
content. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for a story, strong
organisational skills, an ability to multi-task, and a good understanding of
both TV and digital platforms.
Interview Content Producing & guest booking
The content producing (or planning) internship is
right in the heart of the newsroom and central to CNN’s coverage of breaking
news stories. The main role of the planning desk is to find and secure the most
compelling, interesting and relevant voices across the world to give insight
into the top stories of the day. The ideal candidate will have an eye for a
strong interview idea, excellent organisational skills, good logistical sense
(to get guests to the right place at the right time), acute attention to
detail, quick to learn, adaptable and overall a great team player. The planning
desk can be fast-paced and intense during breaking news, with periods of
downtime which allow for forward planning.
Business
The main role of Business intern is help find and
book guests for the business shows along with newsgathering, forward planning
and research. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills,

World Sport
World Sport is CNN International’s flagship sports
show that runs multiple times a day, seven days a week. Our show focuses on
sports news, big-name interviews and exploring themes like racism, gender
inequality and athlete activism as we seek to go beyond the headlines. The key
roles for our intern are to help identify and pitch interesting stories, book
guests, help research for interviews and segments, and produce cross-platform
content. The ideal candidate should have a broad knowledge on sports news, an
ability to deliver to deadlines, be a strong communicator and somebody who
thrives collaborating in a team environment.
CNN Features Edit/Camera Internship
This role is designed for Film/TV graduates. Primary
responsibilities include assisting the Edit and Camera department. Premiere Pro
Editing – Preparing edits, ingesting, logging. Independently editing short
vignettes, TV packages and Feature shows. Camera – Assisting crews on TV
shoots. Operating second camera as well as possibilities for independently
shooting TV packages with a producer.
DIGITAL INTERNSHIPS
News
This intern will be assigned to the digital news
team, and will research and write news stories. As the internship progresses,
there will be opportunities to pitch and write distinctive features.
Programming
This intern will be assigned to the global
programming team, which curates the homepage and mobile app. There will be
opportunities to sharpen our homepage headlines, write engaging push alerts and
edit some of our key landing pages.
CNN Style & Opinion
The intern will gain experience working as part of
the Style and Opinion teams where responsibilities will include research,
reporting and writing stories for various digital CNN platforms. The successful
candidate will have a strong and broad knowledge of fashion, art and design.
They will understand digital journalism, have a meticulous eye for detail and
be able to work under pressure. This internships is well-suited to someone who
has studied digital journalism, or who has comparable experience, and who wants
to pursue a career in digital journalism.
Video
The digital video intern will assist producers,
editors and supervisors across the full gamut of video production, from the
research and pitching stage right through to post production and all stages in
between. We’re looking for curious, versatile, enthusiastic and proactive
candidates with an interest in both news and features content, long and
short-form video, with a mixture of technical and editorial skills. They need
to demonstrate both an ability to work under the pressure of news deadlines,
along with the thoughtfulness and creativity required for longer-lead features
projects. Previous interns have seen their own ideas published on the site
within weeks of joining and have quickly established themselves as an
invaluable player on the team.
The Video Development Group is split into two
primary units, focusing on daily turn news & feature content, as well as
longer-lead series. This internship position will spend time with both units,
creating an opportunity to learn a wide range of skills over the course of the
program. The intern may assist with the following: research, pitching and
attending brainstorms, assist producers, editors and shooters at base and in
the field, explore sound design and editing in Adobe Premiere.

Working for CNN London’s digital sport video team
across all CNN platforms; the digital sport video intern will assist producers
and supervisors across the full gamut of video production, from the research
and pitching stage right through to post production and everything in between.
We’re looking for curious, versatile, enthusiastic
and proactive candidates with an interest in both news and features content,
long- and short-form video, with a mixture of technical and editorial skills.
They need to demonstrate both an ability to work under the pressure of news
deadlines, along with the thoughtfulness and creativity required for longer
features projects.
The Sport video unit is small but responsible for
all sport output in the organization, focusing on daily turn news, feature and
sponsorship content, as well as longer-form video. This internship position
will have an opportunity to learn a wide range of skills over the course of the
program. The intern may assist with the following: research, pitching and
attending brainstorms, assisting producers, editors and shooters at base and in
the field, explore sound design and editing in Adobe Premiere. A basic to
moderate level of editing experience is essential for this role. After Effects
and Photoshop knowledge is preferable, but not necessary.
Design Visuals
Our team is made up of visual journalists, data
journalists, developers and designers, we combine storytelling, data and design
to create compelling interactive features, dataviz, mapping and illustrations
for news stories. We’re looking for a design intern who’s enthusiastic and
proactive. You don’t need to know all the programs, but you’d be keen to learn
how to visualise the news.
Main responsibilities include: Researching and
designing data visualizations for news stories. Creating wireframes of
interactive websites and concepts for new ways of digital visual storytelling.
Visualising those designs as working prototypes and creating posts and managing
our CNN Creative Instagram account.
