Job Role Summary

ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company has an immediate opening for a full-time staff position in the area of deepwater/subsea engineering in Houston, Texas. We are looking for a dynamic, creative, and resourceful individual to join our research team. The hired individual will conduct research in the following areas: novel deepwater/subsea development concepts, analysis and installation of subsea equipment and subsea automation.

Primary Job Functions

·         Position is responsible for identifying and advancing novel deepwater/subsea development concepts for oil & gas production
·         Develop new technologies and design practices for offshore systems, including floaters, pipelines and risers, and subsea production and processing equipment
·         Identify, assess and/or qualify new technologies with other related disciplines and apply them to ExxonMobil operations, often under tight time constraints and in conjunction with other related commercial technologies
·         Identify potential new technologies from the oil and gas industry and adjacent industries through external research, networking, etc. which may be applied to development concepts.
·         Market and deploy new technologies through research reports, technical and business presentations to colleagues and management, training courses, and formal / informal interactions with internal customers

Job Requirement

·         Ph.D. or M.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related scientific/engineering disciplines
·         Demonstrated experience in Research and Development (R&D) within the Oil & Gas or related industry
·         Demonstrated experience in providing technical design and/or consulting services (internal or external) within the Oil & Gas or related industry
·         Demonstrated experience in design, engineering and optimization of deepwater/subsea equipment for R&D or consulting activities
·         At least 5 years of work experience in Oil & Gas or related industry

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

·         Knowledge in design, engineering, optimization, testing and installation of subsea production and processing systems
·         Knowledge and proficiency in the areas of subsea hardware, subsea processing, subsea equipment installation, flow assurance analysis, time-domain simulations are highly desirable
·         Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment is important


Controls Software Engineering Specialist Needed In Baker Hughes, Houston, TX


Baker Hughes, (BH), has an opening for a Software Lead Engineer based in Houston, TX. The Lead Software Engineer may be required to work on more than one project concurrently, reporting to the Software Team Leader. The position holds responsibility for software development, update, testing and maintenance tasks within the assigned projects.

Essential Responsibilities:
·         Perform tasks within the software engineering scope for various projects.
·         Supervision of a small team of software engineers, as required.
·         Regular reporting of individual project progress and resource status.
·         Review and technical input of project plans.
·         Identification of technical, schedule and commercial risks relating to software requirements.
·         Assist the Supply Chain Management Function with procurement/sub-contract activities, including variation order requests.
·         Preparation and review of requirements, design, interface and test documentation, within company and client defined contractual and quality requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements:

·         3+ years software/electrical engineering work experience within an Oil & Gas controls environment.
·         Proven automation (SCADA) experience with specific focus on PLC logic and HMI/GUI development.
·         Knowledge of computer networking, including Ethernet configuration.
·         Ability to program in high level languages, such as C/C++/JavaScript.
·         Core logic skills and experience, including data bit handling.
·         Experience of interfacing with instrumentation over a variety of interfaces (for example, Pressure/Temperature/Flow sensors via Modbus/CAN bus/PROFIBUS/OPC).
·         SQL/Database development experience.
·         Mathematical knowledge to enable tasks such as data scaling/conversion of certain instrumentation data.
